January?

what on earth happened to January? how did it already come and go? sandwiched somewhere in between sleet and anticipation of snow days.

just when you think the sidewalks are cleared. just when you think you might be able to resurrect those shoes that sit gathering dust in your closet, longing to be worn. just when the hope for a sign of the suns glimmer begins to bud. it all starts over again.

and that's what happened to January.

I also mark time by the shoes I can't wear! Every morning I put on my hiking boots which double as snow boots because I can't find snow boots I like and I am discouraged by their effect on my outfit and that I am not out in the woods or on a mountain somewhere. Then I make my way outside with the vague fear I will never actually wear another pair of shoes. You know who has good snow boots? Kids! Simple, colorful, happy things made for people who know how to enjoy snow. Why can't they make them like that for grownups?
